Louise Murray-BruceHi, my name is Louise Murray-Bruce and I am from Nigeria. I joined Imperial College London in September 2017 and I studied the MSc Transport and Business Management course. Prior to joining, I worked as a Highway Engineer in WSP for 3 years after graduating from Cardiff University. In addition, I love to travel and learn about new cultures.

Why did you choose to do your MSc with us?

I was looking to change my career trajectory. I wanted a course that would expose me to a broader depth of knowledge and open up more career opportunities. In particular, I also wanted to learn more about the business element of building and maintaining large infrastructure projects.

What are you hoping to do after your studies?

I will be working for WSP’s Development team and will be involved in transport planning and urban development planning for large private institutions.

What have the highlights been so far?

Definitely the people! I’ve made lifelong friends at Imperial. People that I have so much in common with from all around the world. I also loved working on my dissertation project with my supervisor, who is an expert in my field of interest, which is shared space designs for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists.

What does a typical week look like for you?

Hmm…I don’t think I ever had a typical week. For the most part, my week encompassed of prepping for courseworks, attending lectures and spending time with friends as I didn’t have lectures every day.

What advice would you give to someone considering doing an MSc with us?

I think it’s most important to understand what you like and don’t like before choosing an MSc. An MSc at Imperial is very challenging, so it’s important you understand details about the course and how you think it could benefit your long-term goal. I spoke to a number of alumni, which I highly recommend as it gives a good understanding of whether it will be the right course for you.
