Sixth London Symposium on Information Theory (LSIT)

19-21 May 2021

The sixth London Symposium on Information Theory (LSIT) will be held on 19-21 May 2021 as a fully virtual event.

LSIT logoThe symposium continues the tradition of the historical first four editions of LSIT, which were held in London in 1950, 1952, 1955, and 1960 and were attended by the likes of Claude Shannon and Alan Turing. The latest LSIT was held in 2019, and the set of speakers and the quality of the talks were no less impressive. We plan to continue this tradition as a biennial event.

This time, due to COVID restrictions, LSIT will be a fully virtual event. Unlike in 2019, we will not be able to enjoy the amazing London views, an evening walk through Covent Garden and Soho, or a nice ale at a neighborhood pub, but hopefully this will not take away from the quality of the talks or the attendance.

To be accessible for live participation from as many locations as possible across the world, we will have a three-day event with sessions restricted to the afternoons in London. The conference will open at 13:45 (British Summer Time -BST) on May 19thEach day is dedicated to a separate topic with a keynote talk and an associated invited session. The keynote talks of the first and second days will be at 17:30, but the third day will open with the corresponding keynote talk at 13:00.

Although it won't be the same as face-to-face meetings, to enable some form of social connection among the participants, we will have a Gather event running in parallel with the symposium. We encourage everyone to spend some time there, especially during the breaks and at the end of the evening sessions.

We look forward to seeing you, wherever you will be connecting from!

The Teams and Gather links will be shared by those who have registered for the event. You can also follow the talks on YouTube through live streaming.
