Programme Team

This is the team who manages, co-ordinates & facilitates most of the activities and support throughout the programme, including preparations for the Showcase at the end.

This includes our facilitators and business coaches, who work internationally with health and technology start-ups across a range of sectors.

Techcelerate Investment Readiness Group (TIRG)

The Techcelerate Investment Readiness Group (TIRG) is a new function of Techcelerate that allows the College to evaluate the support in venture development that we provide to the Imperial postdoc community through the Techcelerate Programme.

The group is made up of entrepreneurs, investors and business brokers working across a range of industries with years of experience. We've compiled a short biography of each to introduce them to you.

 Callum Lawrence, Programme Manager

Callum Lawrence
Programme Manager, Techcelerate

Working in the College's Enterprise Division, Dr Callum Lawrence helps scientists, engineers and innovative organisations deliver impact from their intellectual property via venture creation. Callum has bid for, built, run and optimised academic technology-focused business accelerators, such as Imperial's premier postdoc customer development accelerator, Techcelerate and the Imperial-led MedTech SuperConnector, a £5m experimental programme run by a consortium of 8 institutions. Callum is passionate about innovation, entrepreneurship and the power of delivering societal impact from commercial networks.

 Paul Sturrock, Facilitator

Paul Sturrock,
Slingshot Venture Development Ltd.


Paul is the founder of Slingshot Venture Development and co-founder of ClimbWorks, a scaling service for post-seed startups. His formative career experience was working with MedTech startups in Europe and Silicon Valley.

He co-founded FastForward, London’s first pre-accelerator, and has designed  technology commercialisation and accelerator programmes for several clients, including NESTA , Arts Council England,  Imperial College London, City University, Innovate UK, the SETSquared Partnership, VentureWell and the Scottish Institute for Enterprise.

Paul is also an Associate Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management for Central Saint Martins’ MA Innovation Management, and MA Arts and Cultural Enterprise courses, as well as the Joint Birkbeck-CSM MBA Programme.

 Janet Murray, Business Coach Janet Murray
Business Coach

Janet is an inspirational business coach with over twenty years experience in both the corporate world and as a successful entrepreneur. Her coaching has taken her from coaching future leaders at the UN Youth Assembly in New York on climate change innovation, coaching Forbes 30 Under 30, to mentoring and coaching on leading science and health accelerators and innovation programmes across Europe helping them to launch their start-ups and cumulatively raise millions of pounds of investment. Additionally she works in partnership with a Silicon Valley neuro-science based coaching company delivering high impact training to leading tech companies.

 Eleni Assargiotis, Project Co-ordinator Eleni Assargiotis
Project Co-ordinator

Eleni has many years of experience in administration across the banking sector and in building management. Since moving to the UK in 2017, she's worked in Higher Education, working in programme management and student experience.   She's skilled in communications, with a BA in Media (Communications & Journalism) and has worked as a freelance writer. 

Eleni dances in her spare time, occasionally teaching and competing internationally.

Govind Pindoria

Govind Pindoria
Associate Director of Start-up Formations, Imperial College London

Govind is the current Associate Director of Start-up Formations at Imperial College London, overseeing the College's start-up formations while leading on the College’s innovation academy, Founders Choice programme and seed investor network. Govind’s previous role at Imperial Innovations Ltd saw his personal formation of over 50 companies, from which he held board positions in a number of these companies. Over the past few year Govind has led the sale of three Imperial start-ups to companies including Google (within a day of formation), Evonik (four years from formation) and Oxford University Press (eight years from formation).
 Jason Maroothynaden, ESA

Dr Jason Maroothynaden
Business Broker, European Space Agency

Domain: Telecoms, Digital, Aerospace

Jason is an internationally experienced early-stage venture builder, deeply involved in the space industry. In 2017, he joined ESA’s Business Applications Team as a business broker. ESA Business Applications provides ESA’s support for the commercialisation of satellite applications and space-using industry. The programme is offered across 19 countries. Jason heads up access to finance, in particular working in partnership with Venture Capital and Business Angel funds
 Neha Tanna

Dr Neha Tanna
Principal, Joyance Partners

Domain: MedTech

Neha is a medical doctor and also Principal at Venture Capital firm, Joyance Partners. She qualified as a GP before transitioning to the life sciences industry, where she held various roles in pharmaceutical companies. She holds an MBA from London Business School and has since worked with a start-up MedTech company, as well as several accelerators and VCs in healthcare and early-stage tech. She is also currently an adviser on the MedTech SuperConnector and on the Advisory Board of EOS Venture Partners. Neha is an angel investor, loves tennis and dance, and is a strong advocate for personal fitness and nutrition.

 Tristan Collins, Entrepreneur

Dr Tristan Collins

Domain: Engineering, Serial Entrepreneurship

Tristan is an early-stage founder/CEO and serial entrepreneur. In 2016 Tristan founded a wireless power start-up, Metaboards, grew the company to a staff of >20 and recently raised £3.5m during their Series A investment round. Prior to founding Metaboards Tristan provided strategic advice as a consultant to FTSE100s and the public sector. Following his PhD in 2008 Tristan worked on the commercialization of early-stage technologies.

 Hayley Collen, Epiphron Ltd

Hayley Collen
Director, Epiphron Limited

Domain: Fintech, Impact Investing

Hayley worked with more than 400 companies across a broad range of sectors whilst managing private equity investments for 3i plc and Lloyds Bank.  Hayley currently helps companies to raise debt and equity finance with the impact corporate finance advisory firm ClearlySo, and is a member of the Awards & Delivery Committee at UnLtd (the Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs with £100m endowment), has been part of the Imperial Venture Mentoring Service since it was established in 2017 and is a Fellow at Zinc VC.
