How the College can support you
The College offers a range of support to help women, and men, achieve a good work‒life balance. For example, all female academics are entitled to apply for an Elsie Widdowson Fellowship before taking maternity/adoption leave.
For more information about the range of support the College offers, please explore the Parents' Network website. Details of the College's family friendly policies, including maternity leave, can be found on the HR website.
Women@Imperial Week is an annual celebration of the achievements of female staff and students at Imperial, past and present. The Week is focused around International Women's Day (8th March) and helps raise awareness of the support College provides women.
Each year usually a number of events are organise for the Week, with an exhibition of photographs of Imperial women displayed throughout the Week.
Imperial's Diversity Pledge
To be successful the College has to attract and retain the best staff and students. Our objective is that all of our staff and students (including women, black and minority ethnic, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and disabled) should be appropriately represented at all levels of the College.
Our Pledge to you, our staff and students, is that we will take all necessary steps to bring this about by:
- Identifying and addressing any barriers faced in education, career opportunities, personal development and promotion
- Creating a culture where all staff and students feel valued and respected and in which those with family and caring responsibilities enjoy full equality of opportunity
- Monitoring our progress toward the achievement of our Pledge and publishing the results
