How do I become a Staff Supporter?
To apply, please click the apply button on the main page. You will be then asked to complete a simple self-assessment task and an online application form. Following that, a member of the Staff Supporters Team will be in touch. Please note that the scheme is currently closed and we will not be accepting any new applications at this point.
Do I need my line manager's approval?
Yes – before you apply for the scheme, please seek your line manager’s approval.
Does the scheme replace existing services, such as Trades Unions?
No, the scheme is in addition to the excellent support already available at the College.
Will I get training?
Yes – there will be two, half day training sessions.
What are the benefits of the scheme?
The benefits are broad, from gaining additional skills to support your personal development to boosting your profile within the College, you will be an integral part of supporting the College’s whole community.
What skills do I need?
You will need a range of soft skills such as good listening qualities and the ability to talk to a range of people.
What previous experience is required?
You do not need previous experience to become a Staff Supporter.
How much time do I need to commit to the scheme?
It is anticipated that you will spend around a day a month on activities as a Staff Supporter.
Do I need to work in a certain area?
No, the scheme is open to all and encourages everyone and anyone from the staff community to apply.
If I join the scheme, what support will I get?
You will be supported by the Staff Supporters Team who will be able to assist you throughout your time as a Supporter. You will also have the support of other ‘Supporters’.
