Whether you simply want a relaxing swim at the end of a hard day or whether you're training for a competitive event, Ethos' 25m five lane deck level swimming pool, set in bright and modern surroundings, provides an ideal swimming environment. With a sauna, steam room and spa pool, weekend family swim sessions, and swimming lessons, there is something for everyone.

Opening hours

The pool is open from:

Term time:

  • 07.00 - 22.00 on weekdays
  • 08.00 - 20.00 on weekends

Vacation time

  • 07.00 – 20.00 on weekdays
  • 08.00 - 16.00 weekends

During term time the pool is used by student clubs and may be unavailable to members. 
The last entry is half an hour before closing time. 

Using the pool

Students - Students must pay an annual fee of £30 to access the gym and swimming pool.

Staff - staff members on the basic membership must pay to use the pool, sauna, steam room and spa. We offer an unlimited swim bolt on which costs £21 a month and will allow you unlimited access to the swimming pool for one month. Please note that normal swimming pool access times remain in place - please check the swimming pool timetable for swim times. 

Children - children are not permitted to swim, except during family swim times, from 09.00 - 11.00 on a Saturday or Sunday and accompanied by an adult member, or as part of FastFin lessons or a school. Children must be with an adult, if the child is 8 or older and a competent swimmer then adults may watch them from the viewing area. Please note the lane is open to all users. 

Swimming lessons

Fastfin logoSwimming lessons are available for all, including children between the ages of 5 and 16. These lessons are run by FastFins, a professional swimming school with well-qualified and experienced teachers.

NPLQ Course

LifeguardWe will be running at National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) at Ethos in August and it will be open to both internal and external members of Move Imperial. If you would like to start your career working within the leisure industry or you would like to benefit from varied working hours then this may be the course for you. 

The NPLQ covers all elements of Pool Rescue Techniques, Lifeguarding Theory, First Aid and CPR. The course is physically demanding and will include swimming to set times, lifting casualties and diving to the deepest part of the swimming pool. Training and assessment for the NPLQ is in three sections and all must be successfully passed to attain the qualification.

Lifeguard Course Pre-Requisites  

Every candidate attending a NPLQ course must be 16-years-old at the time of taking the NPLQ final assessment and be able to:

  • Jump / dive into deep water
  • Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
  • Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
  • Tread water for 30 seconds
  • Surface dive to the floor of the pool
  • Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits
