SUMMARY:Centre for International Child Health seminar: ‘Tuberculosis – 
 why are we not winning the fight?’
DESCRIPTION:\nTuberculosis (TB) in children has become an increasingly sign
 ificant issue requiring further prioritisation in global health. In 2015\,
  the World Health Organisation (WHO) estimated that 1 million children a
 round the world were suffering with TB. More than 136\,000 children who di
 e each year also have HIV.\nLarge numbers of children continue to develop 
 TB every year\, but even more have latent TB. Problems lie in understandin
 g the exact extent of the disease. Healthcare professionals are also incre
 asingly challenged by drug resistant TB and also difficulties in diagnosin
 g the illness.  \nOn 16 March\, IGHI’s Global Health Forum links up wit
 h the Centre for International Child Health (CICH) who are launching a n
 ew bi-monthly seminar series to discuss pertinent issues in global health 
 which can affect children and their families anywhere in the world. The fi
 rst seminar focuses on the question\,‘Tuberculosis – why are we not wi
 nning the fight?’ \nThe aim of the CICH is to facilitate multi-discipli
 nary research partnerships and educational activities for global child hea
 lth and to join up existing international child health research activities
