Join Imperial scientists to debate one of today’s main science and engineering ethical issues: the benefits and the perils of the big data revolution. Big data is the new resource, whether in health care, policing, transport or warfare. How can we make sure this field reflects well on science, and is deserving of public support?

All scientists face ethical issues. Whatever your field this lunchtime seminar will help you develop your own ethical understanding. A good knowledge of science-society relations is becoming a necessity of the well-trained scientist or engineer. You are warmly invited to join colleagues for a lively discussion.

The panel

Professor Paul Matthews, Head of the Division of Brain Sciences, Imperial College London

Professor Yi-Ke Guo, Director of the Data Science Institute, Imperial College London

David Walker, social policy adviser and Guardian journalist
