DESCRIPTION:RSVP in advance \nAbstract\nCrossrail is currently the largest 
 infrastructure project in Europe. The new west- east railway runs 118 km f
 rom Maidenhead and Heathrow airport\, in the west\, through 21 km of new t
 win bore tunnels under the heart of London and on to Canary Wharf\, Woolwi
 ch\, Abbey Wood and Shenfield\, to the east of the city.\nWhen Crossrail o
 pens it will increase London’s public rail transport capacity by 10%\, s
 upporting regeneration across the capital helping to secure London’s pos
 ition as a world leading financial center. Construction of the bored tunne
 ls has reached the halfway-point\, with some significant successes in the 
 completion of underground construction.\nThe presentation will highlight a
 chievements to date\, the challenges in design\, procurement and construct
 ion\, and plans for completing the railway and bringing it into use.\nAbou
 t the speaker\nChristopher R Dulake BSc ( Hons) CEng\, FICE. \nCrossrail C
 hief Engineer Chris is a Civil Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of
  Civil Engineers. He has worked in the construction industry for 28 years 
 and is currently Chief Engineer for Crossrail leading the Engineering divi
 sion.\nChris is the engineering technical authority for the Crossrail prog
 ramme\, providing engineering leadership and advice for Crossrail and its 
 construction and design contractors.\nPrior to Crossrail\, Chris worked fo
 r Arup and AECOM where he was Project Director and provided specialists de
 sign and construction advice for international and UK major projects.\nAmo
 ng the projects Chris has worked on are the King’s Cross station Redevel
 opment\, UK\; Marmaray Crossing\, Istanbul and 2nd Avenue Subway\, New Yor
 k.\nHe is a strong advocate for efficiency and quality in design and const
 ruction through the use of collaborative working\, shared risk management 
 and informed project management.
