Gast, our next conversation will be with Professor Dame Carol Propper CBE, Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics and Public Policy, and Dr Mirabelle Muûls, Assistant Professor in Economics in the Department of Economics and Public Policy. Professor Propper will speak about her breakthroughs, innovations and discoveries throughout her career, and Dr Muûls will share her dreams and aspirations as they discuss life experiences and the teachable moments that shape who we are and what we do.

Professor Dame Carol Propper

Carol is Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics and Public Policy. She is the current President of the Royal Economic Society and a member of President Macron of France expert commission on major economic challenges.

Her research focuses on the impact of incentives on the quality of health care delivery and health system productivity and, more widely, on the design and consequences of incentives within the public sector and the boundary between the state and private markets.

Dr Mirabelle Muûls

Mirabelle is an Assistant Professor in Economics in the Department of Economics and Public Policy. She is also a Research Associate in the Centre for Economic Performance at the London School of Economics.

Her current research focuses on the economics of climate change, seeking in particular to understand the impact of climate change policies and climate change on firms’ emissions, energy efficiency, innovation, competitiveness and performance. Her research interests also cover international trade and globalisation.
