Robert Dickson

The Inflammation, Repair and Development Section’s seminar series welcomes Dr Robert Dickson an Associate Professor in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Michigan. This talk will be chaired by Dr Phil Molyneaux.

Robert’s common clinical and research focus is the pathophysiology of critical illness and respiratory infections. Clinically, he cares for patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit, the General Pulmonary clinic, and the county tuberculosis clinic. His laboratory studies the role of lung and gut microbiota in sepsis, the acute respiratory distress syndrome, and chronic lung disease. His laboratory specializes in integrative translational research, spanning from molecular characterization of respiratory microbiota to animal modelling of sepsis and lung injury to prospective trials of human subjects. He is a Senior Editor at Microbiome, a Specialist Editor of European Respiratory Journal, and a member of the Editorial Boards of the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine and Lancet Respiratory Medicine. His research is funded by the NIH, the NSF, and the European Commission.
