About this event

The Imperial College Club of Germany e.V. Conference is holding their annual meeting in Berlin focusing on “Sustainability in the 21st Century: Climate Change, Examples of Transformation and Advice” . The committee thrilled to present an exciting line-up of guest speakers as well as great Berlin highlights.

Please find the agenda which is subject to change below. Please note that Saturday’s lectures will also be delivered online. The online meeting link will be shared with registrants closer to the conference date.

Friday 21 October

Saturday 22 October

08:30 “Welcome to our ICCG Conference” by Miranda Bellchambers, President ICCG eV

08:45 “Introduction to Imperial College: current news” by Kristin Gembiak, Alumni Engagement Officer, IC London

09:00 “Hydrogen… will this be the driver in Germany’s transformation?” – a presentation by Professor Peter Wasserscheid, University of Erlangen

10:00 – 10:30 Coffee/Tea break

10:30 “New Paradigms for New Engineers” – a presentation by Robert Shorten, Professor of Cyber Physical Systems Design at the Dyson School of Design Engineering, Imperial College London.

11:30 “How can green investments be taken and organised from developed to less developed markets?” – a presentation by Claudia Rothe, Senior Project Manager Fundraising at ecoligo GmbH, a Solar Panel investment firm.

12:30 Lunch

14:00 “Sustainability and Art” – a talk by Professor Ilan Chabay, Head of Strategic Science Initiatives and Senior Investigator in the Real Deal European Commission project at the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies in Potsdam , together with “Culture and climate change” – a talk by Dr. David Maggs, Senior Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Sustainability in Potsdam.

15:00 “How are Britain and Germany collaborating in the strategic topic of Environment and Climate” – a presentation by Olaf Kranz, Head of Science & Innovation Germany, Switzerland & Austria at the British Embassy Berlin

16:00 End of formal lectures

16:30 Trabi Tour of Berlin

18:30 Dinner in typical Berlin restaurant

23:00 Check out Berlin’s nightlife with the locals!

Sunday 23 October

08:30 Breakfast at Hotel with ICCG eV Annual Meeting

10:30 Walk from conference hotel to port (250 m) and boarding

11:00 Boat trip on the Spreein Berlin centre

12:00 Lunch at Humboldt Forum, Bistro Lebenswelten. Possibility to visit the Roof Terrace

14:00 Walking tour of the recently rebuilt Stadtschloss area and connecting urban spaces guided by a local town planner and landscaper.

15:30 End of Conference
