Joint Oncology/IRDB Imperial Seminar Series, Thursday 06.10.22 @ 13.30, hosted by Dr Victoria Male.

We are delighted to have Dr Naomi McGovern, Sir Henry Dale Fellow, at the Division of Immunology, Department of Pathology, University of Cambridge.

Dr McGovern carried out her PhD at the University of Cambridge, UK, in the lab of Professor Edwin Chilvers and Professor Alison Condliffe.

In 2010 she moved to the lab of Professor Matthew Colin, University of Newcastle for her first postdoc. Then in 2013, for a second postdoc, she moved to the lab of Professor Florent Ginhoux, Singapore Immunology Network, Singapore. In both labs she studied the properties of human dendritic cells and macrophages.

In March 2017 – Dr McGovern started her lab at the Department of Pathology, University of Cambridge, with the Sir Henry Dale Fellowship she was awarded.

Her lab studies human dendritic cells and macrophages in different contexts.  Their major focus is on human placental macrophages, and defining how their properties change across gestation to aid in placental function.

In this talk Dr McGovern will discuss the ontogeny and function of human placental macrophages, and how these cells adapt to meet the changing needs of the placenta.

This seminar will be hybrid.
