All are Welcome

Current schedule of seminars can be found on the NHLI events webpages. College users will find easy access to previous seminar recordings here too.

Biography

Markella’s major research interests are the mechanisms that underpin the biology of mesenchymal/stromal cells in normal tissues and their altered differentiation during wound healing, tissue remodelling and in pathology. She is also interested in the transcriptional control mechanism(s) that result in the regulation of extracellular matrix genes in vivo with particular emphasis on the fibroblast, myofibroblast and the smooth muscle cell during vascular remodelling in atherosclerosis and pulmonary arterial hypertension. Her overall objective is to identify the master regulators of tissue remodelling, to unravel mechanisms of disease and develop novel and effective ways to generate effective therapeutics
