DESCRIPTION:Title\nA Discussion on Semiparametric Choice Models\nAbstract 
 \nDiscrete choice models play an important role in various applications su
 ch as route choice modelling in traffic research\, product assortment and 
 pricing in revenue management\, and policy planning in health care. Most w
 ell-known choice models (e.g.\, multinomial logit\, multinomial probit) as
 sume that the utilities of alternatives follow a fully-known multivariate 
 distribution. In contrast\, semiparametric choice models require only part
 ial information such as moments or marginals of this distribution. In this
  talk\, we will first introduce semiparametric choice models rigorously an
 d compare them to other models in the literature. Next\, we will present o
 ur recent theoretical and algorithmic results for the product assortment p
 roblem under the marginal distribution model. We will conclude with a case
  study.\nBio \nDr Selin Damla Ahipasaoglu is an Associate Professor in Op
 erational Research at University of Southampton and the director of CORMSI
 S research centre. She received her PhD from Cornell University\, USA in M
 athematical Programming in 2009. Her research is in the intersection of co
 nvex optimization\, decision making under uncertainty\, and statistics. Re
 cently\, she has focused mostly on distributionally robust optimisation an
 d its applications in discrete choice modelling\, portfolio optimisation a
 nd transportation.
