Dr Aileen Rowan

Join us for the Summer Series

of the St Mary’s Infection & Immunity Seminars (hybrid)

I am a recently appointed lecturer in molecular virology. My newly established research group studies how the retrovirus Human T cell leukaemia virus type-1 (HTLV-1) causes leukaemia and lymphoma in a subset of HTLV-1 carriers.

We are particularly interested in the genetic and immunological changes that occur in the early stages of cellular transformation.
Most of our data is derived from primary T cells, through close collaboration with the National Centre for Human Retrovirology and its associated Molecular Diagnostic Unit.
