DESCRIPTION:Title: The crepant resolution conjecture\nSpeaker: Bogdan Simeo
 nov\nAbstract: It was observed by physicists in the late 90s that the geom
 etry of some slightly singular spaces\, for example global quotients by a 
 finite group\, is related to the geometry of a minimal resolution called a
  crepant resolution. These singular spaces are referred to as orbifolds an
 d the crepant resolution conjecture predicts that the Gromov-Witten invari
 ants of orbifolds and their resolutions agree. Throughout the talk\, I wil
 l explain how to define quantum cohomology of orbifolds and give some exam
 ples\, as well as some perspectives coming from symplectic geometry.\n\n\n
