DESCRIPTION:Introductory Medical Statistics\n \nThe Introductory Medical S
 tatistics Course introduces you to basic statistical concepts. The course 
 is run by statisticians and epidemiologists based at the National Heart an
 d Lung Institute (NHLI).\nIt is suitable for: Doctors (including trainee g
 rades)\, nurses\, allied health professionals\, clinical research fellows

 /PhD students\n£195 – academic/NHS/charities\n\nThe course will be held
  on Microsoft Teams\, and recordings of the two half days are circulated t
 he following week.  Delegates also receive an individual attendance certi
 ficate.\nWe send the slides out about a week before the event.\nNB: \n\nIm
 perial College staff and students can pay via internal journal/transfer 
 – please contact me if you wish to do this (you don’t then need to boo
 k online).  \nPlaces are offered on a ‘first-come\, first-served’ bas
 is.  We can accommodate 45 delegates only\, and we will close registratio
 n when the event is full. \n\n\nLearning Objectives\nThe learning objecti
 ves\, as submitted to the Royal College of Physicians (who have supplied 6
  CPD points)\, are as follows:\n\nDevelop skills in and understanding of e
 pidemiological study design (of various types)\, including identification 
 and description of different data types\, and selection of appropriate sta
 tistical tests.\nDevelop skills in and understanding of selection of appro
 priate statistical tests.\nUnderstand the principles behind\, and applicat
 ions of\, various forms of regression analysis\, including survival analys
 is.\n\nThe course includes some ‘classroom exercises’ held via Mentime
 ter\, whereby we invite the attendees to submit their answers to certain q
 uestions.  We also have Q&A at the end of each half day.\nWe will supply 
 a PDF attendance certificate after the event.
