SUMMARY:Targeting Cancer Metabolism In Multiple Dimensions\; PI3K pathway a
 nd Amino acids
DESCRIPTION:\nProfessor Oliver Maddocks is a cancer biologist whose wor
k examines how tumours respond to metabolic stress and exploit nutrient av
ailability to support survival and treatment resistance. His research iden
tifies metabolic vulnerabilities—particularly in responses to amino‑ac
id deprivation and oxidative stress—that can be leveraged to make cancer
cells more sensitive to therapy.\nProfessor Maddocks holds an MPharm fr
om Cardiff University\, a PhD from the University of Edinburgh\, was a Ful
bright Scholar at the University of Maryland School of Medicine\, and is c
urrently Chief Scientific Officer and Co‑Founder of Faeth as well as an
Honorary Professor at the University of Glasgow.\nIn this talk\, he will f
irst present an optimised multi‑node inhibition strategy targeting the P
I3K/AKT/mTOR pathway\, combining drug and dietary interventions now in Pha
se 2 clinical development. He will then explore how cancer cells rely on
specific exogenous amino acids\, and how these metabolic dependencies may
be therapeutically exploited in clinical settings.\n
