SUMMARY:Imperial Science Cafe: Targeting Metabolism to Treat Cancer
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the next Imperial Science Cafe: Targeting Metabolis
m to Treat Cancer at Maggie’s West London.\nCancer cells behave differen
tly from healthy cells\, including the way they use and process nutrients.
This session will explore how researchers are learning to “starve” ca
ncer by targeting its altered metabolism. We will explain how cancer cells
use metabolic fuels in unique ways\, and how these differences can be tur
ned into treatment opportunities. Attendees will hear how scientists are d
eveloping drugs that block key metabolic pathways\, aiming to slow tumour
growth while sparing normal tissues. We will also discuss how diet\, the i
mmune system\, and existing therapies like chemotherapy might interact wit
h cancer metabolism. The session will highlight promising clinical trials\
, current challenges\, and what this research could mean for future\, more
personalised cancer treatments.\nFor more information please contact Kell
 y Gleason.
