SUMMARY:HEP seminar: Matthew Monk (University of Cambridge) – Investigati
ng the polarisation puzzle with B0(s) -> K*K* decays at LHCb
DESCRIPTION:Charmless decays of a B meson to two vector particles offer man
y different avenues to explore the Standard Model. There has been a longst
anding discrepancy between experimental measurements of the longitudinal p
olarisation fractions in charmless B->VV decays\, both between the experim
ental measurements of different decays and with SM predictions\, which has
been dubbed the “polarisation puzzle”. In this talk\, I will present
results from a recent LHCb analysis (https://arxiv.org/abs/2512.05102)\, u
pdating branching fraction and polarisation fraction measurements in both
Bd and Bs decays to a Kstar Kstarbar final state\, resulting in a 4.4 sigm
a tension between theory and experiment.
