DESCRIPTION:In collaboration with the History of Education Society\, this d
 ay-long symposium at Imperial\, on Wednesday 17 June 2026\, will bring tog
 ether researchers and educators interested in the history of education\, s
 pecifically interdisciplinary higher education in the UK and beyond.\nWhil
 e interdisciplinary education at Imperial College London has increased in 
 recent years\, particularly with the foundation of I-Explore in 2019\, mor
 e widely\, interdisciplinary HE has undergone significant changes. \nKey i
 nterdisciplinary institutions and academic initiatives\, including at Keel
 e\, Sussex and York\, have fallen back into traditional disciplinary bound
 aries\, reflecting convergence in a once diverse tertiary sector. Simultan
 eously\, innovations in higher education are addressing interdisciplinary 
 ‘global challenges’ in new ways. Many countries\, such as Scotland wit
 h a broad-based pre-Honour curriculum\, follow different patterns.\nThe sy
 mposium’s presentations will be organised under 5 topics: Keynote\, Scie
 nce & humanities\, Higher Education Institutions\, Teaching\, and Citizens
