  the new extremes that our bodies\, buildings and landscapes now face in B
 ritain and around the world\, compiled through extensive interviews with e
 xperts\, including researchers from Imperial. The discussion will explore 
 themes from the book\, notably wildfires\, and the role of communication i
 n driving climate action.\nDavid will also be signing books after the talk

 ot be approved.\nRegister now\nAbout the author\nDavid Shukman is a Briti
 sh journalist\, author and science broadcaster with over 40 years of exp
 erience\, best known for his long career at the BBC and his authoritativ
 e reporting on science and environmental issues. After joining the BBC in 
 1983\, he held a range of senior roles including World Affairs Corresponde
 nt\, Environment and Science Correspondent and became the BBC’s first Sc
 ience Editor in 2012\, a position he held until leaving the organisation i
 n late 2021 to work as an independent consultant. A leading voice on clima
 te change\, sustainability and biodiversity loss\, he is a sought‑aft
 er international speaker whose engaging talks draw on deep journalistic i
 nsight. He has also authored several bestselling books on climate change\,
  science and global challenges\, and his work has featured in major media 
 outlets such as the BBC\, The Guardian\, The Times and The Telegraph. W
 ith pioneering reports from the Amazon to Antarctica\, David has been prai
 sed by Sir David Attenborough as “a leader in raising awareness about t
 he climate emergency”. His book\, The Response: A Story of Fire and Fl
