SUMMARY:Patient Safety in Virtual Consultations in Primary Care
DESCRIPTION:The Global Digital Health Unit and the NIHR Patient Safety Rese
 arch Collaboration: North West London\, will co-host a seminar on patient 
 safety in virtual consultations in primary care\, presented by Ulrik Bak
  Kirk\, Visiting Researcher at Imperial College London and PhD Faculty Fel
 low at Aarhus University\, Denmark.\n\nAs virtual consultations become an 
 increasingly integrated component of primary care delivery worldwide\, ens
 uring their safety\, quality\, and effectiveness has become a critical pri
 ority for healthcare systems\, clinicians\, and policymakers alike. While 
 remote care offers substantial opportunities to improve access\, flexibili
 ty\, and efficiency\, it also introduces new challenges related to communi
 cation\, diagnostic assessment\, clinical decision-making\, and continuity
  of care.\n\nIn this seminar\, Ulrik will present findings from an interna
 tional programme of research exploring patient safety in virtual primary c
 are consultations. Drawing on a systematic review\, qualitative studies\, 
 and ongoing collaborative research between Imperial College London and Aar
 hus University\, the presentation will examine how patient safety can be c
 onceptualised\, measured\, and improved in digitally enabled healthcare.\n
 \nAttention will be given to the development and validation of patient saf
 ety indicators for virtual consultations. The seminar will also discuss th
 e implications of these findings for clinical practice\, research\, and he
 alth policy.\n\nThe session will be relevant for healthcare professionals\
 , researchers\, students\, policymakers\, and digital health innovators in
 terested in the safe implementation of virtual care and the future of prim
 ary healthcare delivery.
