SUMMARY:Material Encounters: Art and Nanoscience Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:An exhibition of artworks born from collaborations between arti
 sts and scientists\, translating cutting-edge nanoscience into new forms o
 f creative enquiry. Developed in partnership with the London-based artist 
 collective Changeable Beast\, Material Encounters invites artists to work 
 closely with scientists to create new artworks inspired by cutting-edge re
 search in nanotechnology and material science.\nAcross the project\, artis
 ts have been paired with researchers at the London Centre for Nanotechnolo
 gy (LCN) who share a thematic\, creative and intellectual affinity. Each p
 artnership is flexible\, allowing collaborators to shape the process in wa
 ys that suit their interests and working practices.\nParticipating artists
  include members of Changeable Beast and invited guest artists working acr
 oss sculpture\, performance\, sound\, print and installation. Their practi
 ces engage with material processes\, unconventional materials and embodied
  experiences\, creating new ways of thinking about scientific ideas beyond
  traditional explanation. LCN researchers involved in the project represen
 t a broad range of expertise\, including functional molecular materials\, 
 ceramics\, porous materials\, optoelectronics\, quantum technologies and n
 anofabrication. Together\, these partnerships aim to generate artworks tha
 t make aspects of nanoscale research more tangible\, curious and accessibl
 e.\nMaterial Encounters exhibition is part of the London Centre for Nanote
 chnology’s 20th anniversary celebrations. It is part of the LCN’s Quan
 tum Leaps & Nano Wonders event\, also held in Imperial Main Entrance. \nP
