DESCRIPTION:\nThe Academic Women Association (AWA)\, in collaboration with 
 the Department of Surgery and Cancer\, invites you to a thought-provoking 
 conversation with Dr Simon Fleming\, exploring the role we can all play in
  creating academic and clinical environments where people feel they belong
 \, are able to contribute\, and can thrive.\nThis interactive session will
  explore allyship\, belonging and organisational culture\, with a particul
 ar focus on how individuals can use their influence to challenge exclusion
 ary behaviours and contribute to meaningful cultural change.\nThe event is
  open to all staff\, and we particularly encourage men and colleagues of a
 ll genders who want to learn more about allyship and their role in creatin
 g inclusive working environments to attend.\nThere will also be an opportu
 nity to ask questions and engage in discussion with our guest speaker\, Dr

 nAbout Dr Simon Fleming\nDr Simon Fleming is a consultant orthopaedic hand
  and wrist surgeon\, medical educator and culture change advocate\, with a
 n acclaimed international reputation for his trailblazing work. He is a fo
 unding member of the International Orthopaedic Diversity Alliance (IODA) a
 nd currently serves on the Executive Board of the Faculty of Surgical Trai
 ners. He is a past Associate Editor for Medical Education and The Clini
 cal Teacher\, and is a current member of the Editorial Board of the Britis
 h Journal of Surgery. His scholarly work\, as well as his widely recognise
 d and influential presence on social media\, engages a global audience in 
 evidence-informed discussion on surgical education\, assessment\, professi
 onalism\, workforce sustainability and training culture\nDr Fleming has de
 livered over 250 invited keynote lectures internationally\, presenting his
  landmark and award-winning work on diversity and inclusion\, improving su
 rgical training\, and challenging toxic and exclusionary cultures in healt
 hcare. He works with individuals\, institutions\, and healthcare organisat
 ions to support cultural change\, leadership development\, and the capacit
 y to engage in difficult but necessary conversations about power\, behavio
 ur\, and accountability in medicine.\n
