DESCRIPTION:We are hosting our next Early Academic Talks session this mon
 th on Thursday 24th September. This is a great opportunity for Early Care
 er Researchers (ECRs) to network and learn about the research at Imperial 
 in a friendly and informal environment.\nDuring the session\, Danchen Wang
  and Zaid Khan will each give a 10-minute talk on their research.\n\n\n\n\
 n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nDanchen Wang\, Clinical Trial Practitione
 r\, Charing Cross Hospital \n\n\n \n\n\nMAMMA-VAD: Rethinking Breast Abs
 cess Treatment \n\n\n \n\n\nBreast abscess is a common and painful condi
 tion\, but current treatment often involves surgery\, despite limited evid
 ence that it is the best approach for patients. MAMMA-VAD is a randomised 
 feasibility trial comparing minimally invasive ultrasound-guided vacuum dr
 ainage with standard surgical drainage\, aiming to explore whether vacuum 
 drainage could offer a less invasive alternative while maintaining effecti
 ve treatment. This presentation will introduce the clinical problem\, the 
 rationale and design of the trial\, and what we hope MAMMA-VAD will tell u
 s about the feasibility of evaluating a new approach to breast abscess man
 agement. \n\n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\nZaid Khan\, Postdoctoral researcher \n\n\
 n \n\n\nTargeting the active hydrolases in colorectal cancer \n\n\n \n\
 n\nThis talk explores active hydrolases in colorectal cancer using activit
 y-based protein profiling (ABPP) and metaproteomics. By identifying and ch
 aracterising these enzymes\, the project aims to uncover potential therape
 utic targets and improve our understanding of CRC biology. \n\n\n   \n
