DESCRIPTION:The Department of Bioengineering is honoured to welcome Dr Calv
 in Tiengwe\, Assistant Professor in Imperial’s Department of Life Scienc
 es\, for our first Black History Month Department Seminar.\n\nCalvin leads
  the Tiengwe Lab\, where his research investigates how Trypanosoma brucei\
 , a parasite that causes African sleeping sickness\, senses and regulates 
 iron and adapts to iron deprivation. His work could help us better underst
 and how the parasite survives in its host and identify new targets for fut
 ure treatments.\n\nThis is a special addition to our Department Seminar se
 ries and an opportunity to hear from an exceptional Imperial researcher wo
 rking at the intersection of molecular parasitology\, host–pathogen biol
