 le near the origin in ℂ²? I will answer this question by resolving the 
 plane cusp y²=x³ and tracking how both the polynomial and the volume for
 m change under each blow-up. The same calculation on a log resolution give
 s a formula for the critical exponent of an arbitrary complex hypersurface
 \, called its log canonical threshold.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nSome sna
