SUMMARY:Open Innovation: New Insights and Evidence
DESCRIPTION:Please note the conference is now full and due to logistical co
 nstraints we are unable to accommodate any other attendees.\nTo mark the 1
 0th anniversary of the publication of the book Open Innovation: The New Im
 perative for Creating and Profiting from Technology\, A Research Policy  
 special issue  will be published entitled “Open Innovation: New Insight
 s and Evidence.” The guest editors are Henry Chesbrough\, Ammon Salter\,
  Wim Vanhaverbeke and Joel West\, working in conjunction with Research Pol
 icy co-editor Ashish Arora.  \nSpecial Issue Conference\nTo aid in the de
 velopment of papers\, this conference will discuss and develop papers bein
 g prepared for the special issue. The call for papers has now closed. \nP
 otential research areas include\, but are not limited to:\n\nHow does the 
 use of open innovation impact the capabilities of the firm to engage in bu
 siness venturing and strategic renewal? \nWhat environmental and internal 
 factors trigger companies to engage in open innovation? \nWhat are the per
 formance implications of open innovation? \nUnder what conditions do the 
 costs of open innovation exceed the benefits? \nHow have patterns of open 
 innovation changed over time? \nWhat synergies are available by combining 
 inbound and outbound modes of innovation? \nHow should open innovation be 
 applied in new ventures and small and medium-sized companies? \nHow does o
 pen innovation change the role of intellectual property in a firm? \nWhat 
 the conceptual and empirical limitations of prevailing models of open inno
 vation? \nWhat are the implications of an open innovation for individuals 
 and teams? \n\nPapers on other topics related to innovation beyond the bou
 ndaries of the firm are also welcome.\nSchedule\n\nTimetable\n\n\n\nDate\n

 \nNotification to authors regarding their conference submission\n\n\n25-26
  June \nConference at Imperial College London\n\n\n31 August\nSubmission 
 of full papers to Research Policy \n\n\nLate 2013\nIntended publication of
  special issue\n\n\n\n\nBecause of the accelerated schedule\, authors hopi
 ng to participate in the special issue need to meet all deadlines.\nAccomm
 odation and meals will be provided for one author per paper. Due to the si
 ze of the venue\, only a limited number of additional authors or other int
 erested participants will be allowed to attend (at their own expense) on a
  first-come\, first-served basis.\nSubmitting Papers to the Conference\nCo
 nference papers should conform to the same formatting standards as a Resea
 rch Policy journal article. Authors have a choice of two submission format
 s:\n\nA complete manuscript in PDF form that conforms to Research Policy l
 ength requirements\; or \nAn extended abstract of approximately 900 words.
