SUMMARY:LCN Lunch-and-Learn Seminar: Dr Antony Vamvakeros
DESCRIPTION:The London Centre for Nanotechnology are delighted to host Dr A
ntony Vamvakeros for the next Lunch-and-Learn Seminar! Taking place at R
 SM G01 (Imperial\, South Kensington)\, 12:00 – 13:00 on November 24th\,
2025.\n\nTitle: From X-rays to AI: Towards Digital Chemistry for Materia
ls Characterisation\n\nAbstract: Modern functional materials\, from batter
 y electrodes to catalysts\, operate under dynamic\, multi-scale conditions
that demand equally sophisticated tools to study them. My research combin
es advanced X-ray and neutron imaging with artificial intelligence to tran
sform how we interpret complex experimental data. By developing physics-in
formed and generative AI models\, I aim to fuse information from diffracti
on\, tomography\, and microscopy data into coherent digital representation
s of materials in action. These approaches will be implemented in nDTomo\,
an open-source software I developed which is now adopted by industry\, an
d supported by the Battery Imaging Library (https://www.batteryimaginglibr
ary.com/)\, the first multi-modal multi-length scale database of battery i
maging datasets. This work contributes to the broader field of Digital Che
mistry\, which integrates experiments\, computation\, and AI to accelerate
discovery and optimise the design of functional materials for sustainable
  technologies.
