DESCRIPTION:How might new approaches and technologies help us to sense heal
 th needs earlier\, empower individuals and communities to take control of 
 their health\, and shape health systems and technologies that are smarter 
 and more inclusive?\nJoin Imperial alumni for an evening panel event explo
 ring how convergence science can contribute to more equitable health outco
 mes worldwide.\nThe panel discussion will be chaired by Professor Anthony 
 Bull FREng\, Convening Director of the Health and Technology theme within 
 Imperial’s School of Convergence Science. \nOur interdisciplinary alumn
 i panel will reflect on emerging tools\, approaches and ways of working th
 at have the potential to support prevention\, improve access\, and respond
  to health challenges across diverse populations and settings.\nIn additio

 quick-fire pitches by Imperial founders\, highlighting how the university
 ’s innovation ecosystem is moving from concept to society\, to empower p

 ull\nImperial startup showcase \nNetworking reception with snacks and drin
 ks\n\nPanellists \nLucy (Soo Min) Jung (MSc Innovation Design Engineering
  2019)\n\nFounder of LYEONS and Charco Neurotech\, and an inventor of neur
 omodulation medical devices dedicated to improving the quality of life for
  people with long-term conditions. She is passionate about developing pati
 ent-centred solutions that combine technology\, empathy\, and accessibilit
 y.\n At LYEONS\, she leads the development of next-generation neuromodulat
 ion technology focused on autonomic nervous system regulation to support p
 eople experiencing anxiety\, stress\, trauma\, and sleep disturbances. The
  company’s patient-first approach builds on her previous experiences at 
 Charco Neurotech\, where she led the creation of a device that significant
 ly improved mobility symptoms in people with Parkinson’s. They have succ
 essfully raised over £14 million through venture capital\, angel investor
 s\, and grant funding. Recently\, Lucy was winner of the Entrepreneur Alum
 ni Award 2025.\n\nMichael Barker (MBA 2001)\n\nMichael currently holds the
  post of National Strategy Director for the NHS’s New Hospital Programme
 . He has a lifelong career in healthcare\, and is a Consultant Physiothera
 pist by background. He has held many healthcare executive posts at board l
 evel\, leading complex projects that have set a new future for\, and succe
 ssfully transformed\, healthcare organisations. \nDuring the COVID-19 pand
 emic\, he returned to clinical leadership as the Head of Physiotherapy for
  NHS Nightingale Hospital\, London. He then spent 18 months at the Departm
 ent of Health and Social Care leading the role out of the LAMP (saliva) CO
 VID-19 testing programme. Alongside his current role\, he has also created
  and led an initiative called ‘Healthcare London’\, a partnership of p
 rivate providers in London who are unlocking access for international pati
 ents to advance their care in London.\n\nClaire Trant (PhD Materials 2020)
 \n\nScientist and Founder of Untap Health\, working to make early illness 
 detection more proactive\, practical\, and accessible. Untap Health\, buil
 ds near-source\, non-invasive monitoring systems that provide early warnin
 g of viral and bacterial infectious risk before symptoms appear. The work 
 at Untap Health spans both human and animal health\, supporting care envir
 onments\, workplaces\, farms\, livestock settings\, and other shared envir
 onments to act earlier\, reduce disruption\, and protect people and animal
  welfare. \nClaire is passionate about translating rigorous science into r
 eal-world tools\, and about building health protection infrastructure that
  is calm\, privacy-preserving\, and trustworthy.\n\nDr Chiara Bucciarelli-
 Ducci (PhD Cardiovascular Imaging 2012)\n\nConsultant Cardiologist at Roya
 l Brompton & Harefield Hospitals. Alongside her current clinical and teach
 ing commitments\, Chiara is CEO of international non-profit Society for Ca
 rdiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR)\, the principal international\, ind
 ependent organisation committed to the further development of CMR through 
 education\, quality control\, research\, and training. \nChiara was winner
  of the Emerging Alumni Leader Award 2022. Discover her story here.\n\nImp
 erial founders showcasing at this event \nThe Evidence Company \n\nBuildi
 ng trustworthy\, explainable AI agents for healthcare that can call and sp
 eak with millions of patients simultaneously – preparing them for surger
 y\, checking in post-procedure\, and enabling proactive care by identifyin
 g those who need support early. \nThe company works with leading healthcar
 e providers and medical device manufacturers across the UK\, EU and US to 
 reduce clinical and administrative burden through evidence-based\, near-ze
 ro-hallucination AI. Founded by alumnus Uddhav Vaghela (MBBS Medicine 2020
 ).\n\nProtonDx\n\nAn innovative MedTech startup that spun out from Imperia
 l in December 2020\, established to commercialise the multidisciplinary r
 esearch led by founders Professor Pantelis Georgiou\, Dr Jesus Rodriguez M
 anzano\, and Dr Nicolas Moser. Its mission is to transform disease managem
 ent and improve health outcomes by using ground-breaking sample preparatio
 n and detection technologies to develop diagnostic tests for priority infe
 ctions to be used at the point of need. \nIt aims to enable better healthc
 are through fast\, portable\, accurate\, connected\, and multiplex diagnos
 tic technology that facilitate the decentralisation of testing\, improve i
 nfection management and reduce inappropriate antimicrobial use\, a key dri
 ver of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). ProtonDx’s tests are suitable for
  across sectors including food\, environmental\, livestock and animal/huma
 n healthcare. Its flagship Lacewing platform marks a new frontier in point
 -of-care molecular diagnostics using Lab-on-Chip Technology. \nThe team ha
 ve also commercialised Dragonfly PoC diagnostic device\, which been adapte
 d and field-deployed for detection of malaria and skin tropic viruses. \
 nTheir first customers included athletes from Team GB at the Beijing 2022
  Winter Olympics and the 2022 Commonwealth Games\, and has travelled fr
 om the Arctic to Zambia\, demonstrating the portability and versatility of
  the technology. ProtonDx was recently crowned winner of the 2025 Tesco A
 gri T-Jam innovation challenge.\n\nAlphaVectors Biotech\n\nAlphaVectors Bi
 otech is on a mission to transform RNA-based therapeutics by addressing so
 me of the field’s biggest hurdles: stability and delivery efficiency. Ou
 r scalable\, cold-chain-free nanoparticle technology enables a ten-fold re
 duction in dose requirements while remaining stable at room temperature\, 
 unlocking more affordable\, accessible vaccines and gene therapies worldwi
 de. \nWith significant commercial traction\, including a validation study 
 with a world-leading pharmaceutical company\, AlphaVectors Biotech is redu
 cing logistical barriers and accelerating the impact of next-generation RN
 A medicines. Co-founded by alumnus Apanpreet Kaur (Chemical Engineering\, 
 2022)\n\nAbout the Chair\nProfessor Anthony Bull is Convening Director of 
 the Health and Technology theme within Imperial’s School of Convergen
 ce Science\, and Professor of Musculoskeletal Mechanics in the Department 
 of Bioengineering.\n \nHis research is focused on the basic mechanics of 
 joints (including the tissues of joints and the mechanics of joints within
  the whole musculoskeletal system) and the application of this knowledge a
 nd technologies developed to the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies an
 d performance parameters. These are applied to sport biomechanics\, injury
  biomechanics (focusing on blast)\, and the biomechanics of ageing includi
 ng osteoarthritis. \nHe leads the Centre for Blast Injury Studies that exi
 sts to improve the mitigation of injury\, improve and advance treatment\, 
 rehabilitation and recovery thus increasing lifelong health and quality of
  life after blast injury. \nAbout Imperial’s School of Convergence Scien

 e Science: Health and Technology\, which exists to drive meaningful collab
 oration between disciplines\, methods and mindsets to tackle society’s m
