SUMMARY:POSTPONED: Professor Natasja de Groot – Intraoperative Mapping:
From Mechanistic Insight to Clinical Impact
DESCRIPTION:Please Note: This seminar has been postponed.\nDear Colleagues
and Students\,\nNHLI will be holding a talk on Monday\, 12 January 2026 fr
om Professor Natasja de Groot\, Erasmus University.\nTalk Title: Intraoper
ative Mapping: From Mechanistic Insight to Clinical Impact\nTime: 12:00
 – 13:00 UK time\nLocation: Meeting room 427/428 4th Floor ICTEM\, Hammer
smith Campus\, Du Cane Road W12 0NN\n\n\nIntroduction\n\n\nProf. Dr. Natas
ja MS de Groot\, FEHRA works as senior cardiologist-electrophysiologist. S
he is appointed as full-time professor in the Erasmus Medical Center and t
he Technical University in Delft. She is also a Medical Delta Professor. S
he is experienced in device implantations and catheter ablation procedures
with a variety of mapping/ablation technologies including remote magnetic
/robotic navigation and a diversity of electro-anatomical mapping techniqu
es. Main foci of her clinical work include: 1) catheter ablation of comple
x tachyarrhythmias such as post-operative tachyarrhythmias in patients wit
h congenital heart disease\, 2) catheter ablation in paediatric patients.\
n\n\nField(s) of expertise\n\n\n\n\nHer research projects are aimed at unr
avelling the pathophysiology of complex cardiac tachyarrhythmias\, develop
ing and testing developing novel diagnostic tools (in close collaboration
with TU Delft) and therapies for cardiac arrhythmias. Main research topics
are high resolution mapping studies of cardiac arrhythmias in particular
 atrial fibrillation\, mechanisms of (post-operative) atrial fibrillation\,
dysrhythmias in patients with congenital heart disease and neuromodulatio
n of atrial fibrillation. For this purpose\, she has developed a unique wa
y of recording and processing cardiac signals to perform mapping procedure
s.\nHer innovative scientific contributions include:\n\n\n\n\ndiscovery of
novel mechanisms underlying persistence of atrial fibrillation\nintroduct
ion endovascular mapping approach guiding ablative therapy of atrial tachy
arrhythmias in patients with congenital heart disease\ndevelopment of a no
vel\, intra- operative epicardial mapping approach.\ndiscovery of the role
of Bachmann’s bundle in development of atrial tachyarrhythmias\nperform
ed worldwide the first high resolution mapping studies in pediatric patien
t\ndiscovery conduction properties in pediatric patients with congenital h
 eart disease\n
