AB - The thermal, mechanical and degradation behavior of Bioglass®-filled polyactide foams were investigated. The preparation of Bioglass-filled foams involved a thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) process and were incubated in both PBS and SBF solutions at 37°C for varying time periods to six months. The foams were examined using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman Spectroscopy to verify the formation and crystallization of HA on their surfaces. The foams show high porosities, with a bimodal pore size distribution, macropores of ∼100μm diameter and interconnected micropores of 10-50 μm diameter.
