Studying at Imperial College London was never an option, it was much more like a distant dream, as it is in the top-ranked universities of the world.  During my graduation in Brazil, I had a professor who did an internship at Imperial during her PhD, she spoke about her experience at the university in such an amazing way that anyone who heard it would fall in love, especially those who are passionate about science, because different from the science in Brazil everything seems to work properly during the research.

However, being poor and having no conditions to afford all the expenses for studying abroad, studying in a renowned institution that is classified as one of the best in the world was very far from my reality. Then, upon learning of the possibility of studying at Imperial with the scholarship offered by the British Council for Women in STEM, the dream that was so distant started to become a reality. So, Imperial was never an option, but as I was accepted, and I couldn’t have been happier, it becomes the best thing that could ever happen in my career and in my life in all the possible ways.

My parents couldn't afford to fund my postgraduate studies after I completed my undergraduate degree in Brazil and even when I secured a scholarship to study at Imperial, I nearly didn’t make it as there was a delay setting up my UK bank account. That meant I couldn’t receive my scholarship and I had no way to support myself financially.

Through your generosity, I received an emergency bursary to cover my essential living costs. It was such a relief. It meant I didn't have to give up my place and return home.

You know better than anyone that studying at Imperial is a life-changing opportunity and your donation is a lifeline for students like me – especially with the rising cost of living in London.

Thank you for giving me the chance to realise my ambitions, I will never forget your kindness.
