Inaugural WISH Summit 2013
This two day meeting gathered a distinguished audience of decision-makers and influencers from across the world to discuss practical, lasting and innovative solutions to global healthcare challenges.
WISH was more than just an international summit. Leading up to the summit eight ‘Forums’ were established, each chaired by a recognised expert in the topic. Their job was to lead a working group of experts drawn from government, academia, and industry, each focusing on a key issue within healthcare. Prior to the summit each Forum presented their report, aimed at policy-makers and healthcare innovators, which was then discussed at various panel events throughout the two day event.
The themes for WISH 2013 were:
- Patient engagement
- Antimicrobial resistance
- End-of-life care (chaired by IGHI)
- Big data and healthcare
- Mental health
- Accountable care
- Road traffic injury
WISH aims to create tangible and long-lasting solutions in healthcare advocacy, policy, research and delivery. In keeping with this objective, the Summit has been designed to build a network of health experts and to facilitate an interdisciplinary approach, as well as providing a platform for disseminating best practices that can transform healthcare policies and systems globally.
