There is a lot happening across campus on an Imperial College Graduation Day, and support will be required in a number of areas.

Confirmation of role allocations will be communicated in late September/early October, with all volunteers fully briefed ahead of the day.

Whether you can offer your time for a full day across both dates or just a few hours - we would love to hear from you!

If you have previously volunteered at a graduation or there is a particular area that you would like to help with - please do let us know when you complete the volunteer registration portal and we will accomodate this where we can.

Graduation Day roles:

Directing graduands and guests across campus

We are expecting nearly 10,000 attendees across the two graduation days, many of which will not have visited the South Kensington Campus before. We will need as many as possible across the day to welcome graduands and guests to Imperial, helping them to navigate their way to graduation activities on campus and the Royal Albert Hall.

All volunteers will be equipped with a volunteer guide, including all details of what is happening on the day and a campus map.

Registration and information desks

There will be three registration blocks on each day for the corresponding ceremonies.

We will need a small number of people to assist our team with on-the-day ticket and general enquiries, at registration and our information desks.

Academic registration and gowning

Working directly with academics involved in the ceremony, assistance will be required at academic check-in and ticket collection.

Our official academic dress provider, Ede & Ravenscroft will oversee the majority of the gown collection and dressing process but volunteers may also be required to support them.

Departmental receptions

Departmental receptions begin shortly after each ceremony and last approxumately 90 minutes, consisting of drinks and light refreshments. They will take place at up to 11 different venues across campus, so a large pool of volunteers will be needed to assist guests, graduands and Imperial staff in attendance.

The full list of venues will be confirmed shortly after registration for the October Graduation Days closes.

Photography

Professional photography will be offered on the day by Tempest Photography and is one the most popular activities at graduation.

With graduands able to take photographs with their family and friends, assistance will be required to manage the queue and support the photographers.

The location for photography is in the process of being finalised and will be confirmed soon.

Programming in the Royal Albert Hall

Graduation programmes and guest booklets will be available in the Royal Albert Hall prior to each ceremony and help will be required to distribute these in the venue.

Programmers will then assist on Prince Consort Road to welcome graduands and guests to the Hall, so that they are seated in good time ahead of the ceremonies.
