Job summary

Applicants are invited to apply for a Research Associate (RA) position funded by the EU Commission (Horizon 2020) to develop the KIOS Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence (KIOS CoE). The project is a team effort between the University of Cyprus and Imperial College London which will carry out multidisciplinary research in the areas of intelligent large-scale dynamic systems and networks and distributed optimisation with emphasis on monitoring, control, and cyber-security of critical infrastructures.

Duties and responsibilities

The RA will carry out research programmes in the area of intelligent large-scale dynamic systems and networks with emphasis on model-based and data-driven monitoring, control, distributed optimisation, and cyber-security within the application context of industrial large-scale processes and critical infrastructures such as transportation networks with autonomous and human-driven vehicles, smart cities, electrical power networks, water distribution systems and their inter-dependencies either technological or social, undertake project management and/or supervise multi-disciplinary teams.  In addition, the RA will be expected to participate in the general activities of the KIOS Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence, attend the project meetings and events, collaborate in project report preparation, submit publications to refereed journals and to attract external research funding.

Essential requirements

The post holder must have a good PhD in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering or Mathematics (or equivalent) for appointment at Research Associate level and have previous experience in control engineering, machine learning, networks science, intelligent and networked systems with emphasis on monitoring, cyber-security and control of large-scale interconnected dynamic systems.

Further information

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £35,477 - £38,566 per annum.
