Job summary

A Research Associate position is available in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London within the Ultrasound Laboratory for Imaging and Sensing of Prof. Mengxing Tang (https://www.imperial.ac.uk/people/mengxing.tang).

The post holder will contribute to in vivo microvascular imaging in rodents using advanced ultrasound imaging technologies including super resolution ultrasound localisation microscopy, in collaboration with Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College. This project will provide new insight into metabolism and identify novel approaches to maintaining health.

Duties and responsibilities

The project involves the technical development of microvascular imaging and super resolution ultrasound localisation microscopy and its in vivo application. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of biologists and engineering researchers to develop technical solutions for studying micro-circulation in vivo in the abdominal area. This will benefit from experience in ultrasound imaging, experimental data acquisition, signal/image processing and programming.

Essential requirements

The applicant should hold, or be about to receive a PhD, and have relevant skills and experience as described above. Researchers will be expected to play an active role in the group, writing papers and giving presentations, helping to write grant proposals, mentoring students and setting an example for others.

Further information

Full time, fixed term for 36 months in the first instance, with possibility of extension. Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £36,694 - £39,888 per annum.
