The Institute of Global Health Innovation (IGHI) is one of Imperial College London’s seven global institutes. The Institute aims to develop cutting edge solutions to the challenges faced by healthcare systems and to elicit transformational improvement in the quality and equity of patient care and population health and wellbeing.
The Finance and Operations Officer will support a portfolio of financial and operational management related activities across three of IGHI’s research centres; the Centre for Health Policy (CHP), the Helix Centre, and the NIHR Imperial Patient Safety Centre (PSTRC).
You will oversee a diverse portfolio of research, non-research and education grants and projects, providing financial, resource and contract management oversight, ensuring projects are managed effectively and liaison with project stakeholders to track project objectives.
Working closely with the IGHI Operations team, you will suggest and develop systems and process improvements to build an efficient and effective financial and project management function. You will work with IGHI theme leads to ensure finance and operations principles are embedded through communication of best practice and guidance.
Duties and responsibilities
Duties include award management of grants and projects and managing complex budgets (including those over £1m) across multiple programmes of activity. You will oversee budgets for a range of projects and make suggestions about resource allocations based on funder and College policy and procedure. You will support management of collaborator and sub-contractor agreements and keep track of staff resource allocations highlighting gaps in funding and planning for longer term sustainability. You will ensure robust financial and operational systems are established to ensure efficiency and effectiveness and be proactive to make suggestions about improving procedure.
You should have strong financial management capabilities and experience of managing multiple complex projects overseeing financial, contractual, and operational process. Key to the role are strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex information to a non-technical audience (in particular finances).
We are searching for a confident self-starter with the ability to contribute new ideas to deliver a more efficient and effective service. The ability to establish effective working relationships with a diverse range of people whilst being able to prioritise a high volume of work and work in an independent manner are also paramount.
This post is offered on a full time and fixed term basis for 12 months. The role is based at St. Mary’s Campus (Paddington).
