Are you a highly motivated, pro-active legal contract professional with experience in higher education?  Could you act as the interface between the academic community and external organisations to negotiate commercial and contractual arrangements for consultancy projects? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you.

Our Business Engagement team is seeking a Contracts Manager to negotiate a wide range of contracts with a variety of UK and overseas clients to achieve the best possible contractual terms and conditions in respect of intellectual property, warranties, indemnities and other contract related issues within the context of College and company policies and procedures.  You will also support the consultants to ensure they operate within College and company processes and regulations.

Duties and responsibilities

The role involves reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a variety of contracts for all areas of Imperial Consultants' business ensuring the contracts are aligned to policy and internal guidelines before closing out for project delivery by the consultant(s) and the Business Delivery team.

The role also includes supporting academics who undertake their own business development to ensure due diligence on their opportunities and approval of their budget and proposals in line with College and company policies and procedures.

Essential requirements

To be successful in this role you will have practical knowledge of contract drafting, negotiation and management and costing/pricing in an academic or industrial R& D context. In addition, you will have an excellent and substantial knowledge of contracting issues such as intellectual property, confidentiality, publications, liabilities and other related issues.

The role will include interfacing with key academic staff as well as representatives from client/customer organisations, so strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.  The role also requires you to be flexible in your work and to be able to complete a variety of tasks simultaneously.

“The starting salary for this role will be within the range of £47,842 - £51,777 with ability to progress up to £57,606 once in post.”
