Call for projects

‌Call for proposalsDeadline 25th of November 2019, 9 am

The Leverhulme Doctoral Training Centre in Cellular Bionics at Imperial College London is inviting applications for fully funded 3 year PhD studentship projects starting in October 2020.

Annual Scheme

The “annual scheme” is now open for applications and will be funding projects that are concerned with engineering symbiosis between living and non-living systems, coupling the advantages of biological life (e.g. environmental sensing, self-repair, regeneration, reproduction, directed evolution and communication) with those of synthetic systems (e.g. ease of interfacing with external electronics, incorporation of non-biological building blocks). This should underpin the development of a new generation of molecular platform technologies that will enable researchers to harness the power of biological constructs across a wide range of length scales. Due to the nature of the Leverhulme funding, proposals concerned with basic rather than translational research are encouraged.

There is a restriction on the number of applications per supervisor. No more than two applications by the same supervisor will be accepted in this scheme this year (regardless of their position on the application form).

Please complete your application by entering your text directly into the application form. Applications should be restricted to 3 pages (maximum) and a font size no less than 10 pt Arial should be used. Please email the completed application form as a word document to Natalia by the 25h of November 2019 9:00 am.

We expect to make decisions on successful applications within two to three weeks of the deadline so that these can be advertised by Christmas.
