Find your way around

RSM - Ground Floor

  • The Department of Materials is situated in the Royal School of Mines (RSM) - on the ground, first and second floors and the lower ground floor
  • There are two entrances to the Royal School of Mines or RSM: from Prince Consort Road, or from Bessemer Building (pink entrance from Dalby Court, walk all the way along the corridor to the RSM reception desk).
  • Room numbers have the Level number as the first digit (G. for ground, 1. for first floor, 2. for second floor)

  • Facilities for the disabled -  Wheelchair access is via the Bessemer Building entrance to from Dalby Court. All teaching facilities have level access via lifts.  All teaching facilities have wheelchair access

  • The ground floor -students lockers are situated outside the Computer Room in RSM G08

  • The Student Office, Senior Undergraduate Tutor and the Director of Undergraduate Studies are located on the Ground Floor in Room G03A, G03B and G03C respectively

On the RSM first floor, you will find academic staff offices and some research labs (Fuell Cells and Nanotechnology)

Most Year 1 and 2 lectures take place in Lecture Theatre G.20, which holds 144 students.

Computer Room

Entrance on the ground floor via Department of Materials, Goldsmith's Wing. The Computer room has about 122 computers, some reserved for teaching during the day, but the majority available for your use from 8.00am to 6.00pm; it also has printers and a scanner, and offers a wide range of software.
