Professor Parveen Kumar DBE
Parveen is Professor of Medicine and Education at Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry Queen Mary University of London. She is a gastroenterologist. She is President of the Royal Medical Benevolent Fund, which cares for doctors in need, and is ambassador for the UK Health Alliance for Climate Change. She currently chairs the Board of Science for the BMA.

She has been President of the British Medical Association, President of the Royal Society of Medicine, President of the Medical Women’s Federation, and Vice President, Censor, director of Continual Professional Development and associate International Director for Education of the Royal College of Physicians. She chaired the Medicines Commission UK, was a founding non-executive Director of the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE), and chaired the BUPA Foundation for Research

She co-founded and co-edited Kumar and Clark's Clinical Medicine, now in its 9th edition. She is on various advisory Boards and charities. Her current main interests are in medical education and Global health; she co-edited a book on the Essentials of Global Health written by 127 medical students from around the world.

Rosamund Lupton is the author of four best-selling novels, her first novel “Sister” was translated into 30 different languages, her most recent “Three Hours” is a Sunday Times top ten best seller and a best book of 2020.

Nour Houbby (Medical student, Imperial College London)

Professor Ashley Hall is Professor of Design Innovation in the school of design at the Royal College of Art in London and a visiting Professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. With an MA from the RCA and PhD from the University of Technology in Sydney he has a background in design practice, teaching and research. He joined the Royal College of Art in 2006 lecturing and researching on the Innovation Design Engineering programme. He now leads postgraduate research for the school of design and the MRes in Healthcare Design with Imperial College and is acting head of programme for the MA’s in Design Products and Design Futures. Ashley researches in design innovation methods ranging from innovation strategy to design thinking, design for safety, experimental design, design pedagogy, globalisation design and cultural transfer. His international activity includes leading cross-cultural design innovation collaborations in Australia, China, Ghana, India, Israel, Palestine, Japan, Korea, Norway, Mali and the USA. He has developed and led commercial-academic partnerships in a range of different industrial sectors from transportation to communications including Airbus Industries, British Airways, BBC, Coca-Cola, Ford, Guzzini, Huawei, Lloyds Register Foundation, O2 Mobile, 3 Mobile, Philips Lighting, Samsung, Sharp, Swarovski and Unilever.

Dan Simpson is a writer, performer, producer, and educator - and currently Poet-in-Residence at Imperial College London. He has performed around the world including at Glastonbury Festival, Chicago’s Uptown Poetry Slam, Sofar Sounds Auckland, and on the BBC.
