Welcome to Faculty of Medicine e-Learning
We are the e-Learning team at the School of Medicine, providing support, training and collaborative development across the School. The School of Medicine is fully committed to making effective use of learning technology, providing creative and effective e-Learning experiences, and enhancing learning and teaching using e-Learning in a flexible, accessible way.
Examples of some of the projects we're working on can be found under the right-hand side menu.
What is e-Learning?
There are several interpretations of e-Learning: our view is that e-Learning enhances the learning and teaching experience by the use of online communication tools and interactivity, and acts as an enabler for alternative training methods.
e-Learning is available to anyone around the clock via modern communication channels. It reduces costs significantly and allows students to approach the study material in a modular, interactive and self-paced way. The materials are also re-usable and constantly updatable. e-Learning material is also often trackable which is a useful way of measuring progress.
Learning technologists
Each Faculty at Imperial College has learning technologists who provide technical and pedagogical support in all e-Learning related matters.
