We encourage the use of the National Neonatal Research Database (NNRD) for evaluating neonatal outcomes nationally, regionally, and locally. The NNRD is the only source of comprehensive, quality-assured national neonatal data for England, Scotland and Wales.

Utilising the NNRD reduces the burden of duplicative data collection previously placed on neonatal teams and is accord with the principle of recording data once and using these for multiple purposes.

The NNRD is now used to support a broad range of service evaluations, audits, including national audits and quality improvement programmes, as well as clinical, health services and policy research.

For information on how to access the NNRD visit our Utilising the NNRD page.
