Course/Module
Teacher, Theory of Finance 2. (Postgraduate)
Asset Allocation and Investment Strategies - BUSI97059
Aims
This module is an advanced elective in investments and portfolio management, advancing the knowledge to current research and practice. Asset pricing has undergone substantial changes in the last one or two decades, with the realization that expected returns vary across time, and across assets in ways that the static CAPM does not recognize. We will cover the modern discount factor approach to asset pricing theory, covering stocks, bonds, and options together. We will explore various sources of risk which financial institutions are exposed to, such as interest rate risk, credit risk and liquidity risk, and study how financial institutions manage these risks. We discuss trading strategies used by hedge funds and mutual funds.
