Bonivento W, Boyarsky A, Dijkstra H, et al., 2013, Proposal to Search for Heavy Neutral Leptons at the SPS
A new fixed-target experiment at the CERN SPS accelerator is proposed thatwill use decays of charm mesons to search for Heavy Neutral Leptons (HNLs),which are right-handed partners of the Standard Model neutrinos. The existenceof such particles is strongly motivated by theory, as they can simultaneouslyexplain the baryon asymmetry of the Universe, account for the pattern ofneutrino masses and oscillations and provide a Dark Matter candidate. Cosmological constraints on the properties of HNLs now indicate that themajority of the interesting parameter space for such particles was beyond thereach of the previous searches at the PS191, BEBC, CHARM, CCFR and NuTeVexperiments. For HNLs with mass below 2 GeV, the proposed experiment willimprove on the sensitivity of previous searches by four orders of magnitude andwill cover a major fraction of the parameter space favoured by theoreticalmodels. The experiment requires a 400 GeV proton beam from the SPS with a total of2x10^20 protons on target, achievable within five years of data taking. Theproposed detector will reconstruct exclusive HNL decays and measure the HNLmass. The apparatus is based on existing technologies and consists of a target,a hadron absorber, a muon shield, a decay volume and two magneticspectrometers, each of which has a 0.5 Tm magnet, a calorimeter and a muondetector. The detector has a total length of about 100 m with a 5 m diameter. The complete experimental set-up could be accommodated in CERN's North Area. The discovery of a HNL would have a great impact on our understanding ofnature and open a new area for future research.

Aaij R, Abellan Beteta C, Adeva B, et al., 2013, Measurement of the CKM angle gamma from a combination of B-+/- -> Dh(+/-) analyses, Physics Letters B, Vol: 726, Pages: 151-163, ISSN: 0370-2693
A combination of three LHCb measurements of the CKM angle γ is presented. The decays B± → D K ± andB± → Dπ± are used, where D denotes an admixture of D0 and D0 mesons, decaying into K + K −, π+π−,K ±π∓, K ±π∓π±π∓, K0Sπ+π−, or K0S K + K − final states. All measurements use a dataset correspondingto 1.0 fb−1 of integrated luminosity. Combining results from B± → D K ± decays alone a best-fit value ofγ = 72.0◦ is found, and confidence intervals are setγ ∈ [56.4, 86.7]◦ at 68% CL,γ ∈ [42.6, 99.6]◦ at 95% CL.The best-fit value of γ found from a combination of results from B± → Dπ± decays alone, is γ = 18.9◦,and the confidence intervalsγ ∈ [7.4, 99.2]◦ ∪ [167.9, 176.4]◦ at 68% CLare set, without constraint at 95% CL. The combination of results from B± → D K ± and B± → Dπ±decays gives a best-fit value of γ = 72.6◦ and the confidence intervalsγ ∈ [55.4, 82.3]◦ at 68% CL,γ ∈ [40.2, 92.7]◦ at 95% CLare set. All values are expressed modulo 180◦, and are obtained taking into account the effect of D0–D0mixing

Aaij R, Beteta CA, Adeva B, et al., 2013, First observation of the decay B-c(+) -> J/psi K+, Journal of High Energy Physics, Vol: 2013, ISSN: 1126-6708
The decay B+c → J/ψ K+ is observed for the first time using a data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb−1, collected by the LHCb experimentin pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. A yield of 46 ± 12 events is reported, with a significance of 5.0 standard deviations. The ratio of the branching fraction ofB+c → J/ψ K+ to that of B+c → J/ψ π+ is measured to be 0.069 ± 0.019 ± 0.005, where thefirst uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.

This paper reports the first measurement of the effective B0s → J/ψK0S lifetime and an updated measurementof its time-integrated branching fraction. Both measurements are performed with a data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb−1 of pp collisions, recorded by the LHCb experimentin 2011 at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV. The results are: τ effJ/ψK0S= 1.75 ± 0.12 (stat) ± 0.07 (syst) psand B(B0s → J/ψK0S) = (1.97 ± 0.23) × 10−5. For the latter measurement, the uncertainty includes bothstatistical and systematic sources.
