In this brief review I consider the advances made in weak gravitationallensing over the last 8 years, concentrating on the large scales - cosmicshear. I outline the theoretical developments, observational status, and thechallenges which cosmic shear must overcome to realise its full potential. Finally I consider the prospects for probing Dark Energy and extra-dimensionalgravity theories with future experiments.

We use the LUQAS sample of 27 high resolution, high signal-to-noise QSOabsorption spectra (Kim et al. 2004) and the results from Croft et al. (2002)together with a suite of high-resolution hydro-dynamical simulations run withthe GADGET-II code, to infer the linear dark matter power spectrum on scales of\~ 0.3-30 Mpc at z=2.125 and at z=2.72.
