DR AISHA NEWTH
Aisha is a GP and Programme Director for the Imperial GP Vocational Training scheme.
Aisha qualified from the university of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1998. She completed her GP training in London in 2004.
Aisha has extensive experience in teaching having started working in the department of Primary Care at Imperial College in 2004 teaching communication skills.
She then went on to do a teaching fellow post where she developed GP teaching sessions during the Year 5 paediatrics attachment.
Following this she ran the the year 5 General Practice and Primary Healthcare attachment where she helped to develop the course and introduce new teaching sessions, including a clinical reasoning session and a new patient project assessment.
She then worked as Faculty Development Lead. In this role she was responsible for teaching, training and supporting our community teachers who teach across the undergraduate GP curriculum at Imperial College. She developed the TaCTIC and ASTIC training courses for GP teachers. She was an academic supervisor for the postgraduate trainees who are attached to the Department of Primary Care.
Aisha has a PGCERT in University Learning and Teaching from Imperial College and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
She works as a GP partner in Crown Street Surgery, Acton, west London where she is heavily involved in teaching and is a clinical supervisor for doctors in postgraduate training. The practice prides itself on being a beacon teaching practice with learners at all levels of training. Her current interests include near-peer teaching.
